Amino Acids: The Beginning of Everything

The proteins, enzymes, and signalling molecules responsible for youthful skin are all made from the same 20 amino acids. These tiny building blocks are the raw material from which your body constructs the entire machinery of life.
When amino acids link together in short chains (2–50), they form peptides – signalling molecules that tell cells what to do. When those chains extend and fold into complex structures (50+), they become proteins – the tools your cells use to build and repair. When proteins are designed to speed up chemical reactions, they become enzymes – catalysts that keep everything running efficiently.
To produce something like collagen, your body needs:
  • Specific amino acids (like glycine, proline, hydroxyproline)
  • Signal peptides to activate collagen-producing fibroblasts

  • Enzymes to assemble and stabilise the collagen structure
